Photobooks play an important role in the art photography world, and making a good photobook is no easy matter. Many photographers will go to extraordinary lengths to find the one form that displays their photography to best advantage. It is a complex process in which the choice of paper, printing technique, design, and image sequence are all crucial. And photographers do not work in isolation: behind them there is usually an invisible world of passionate designers, printers, and publishers, all working to make these special projects possible. Ultimately, a good photobook tells a powerful and well thought-out story, not just through its printed images but also in the materiality of the object itself. So a photobook cannot really be properly appreciated until you actually hold it in your hands.

Our staff maintains close links to both international publishers as well as smaller publishing collectives and self-publishing photographers. We are always on the lookout for special photobooks, and this means we can regularly offer books that are practically unavailable anywhere else. Besides this special selection, the museum shop naturally also stocks publications linked to current and past exhibitions.
Special editions
We frequently offer a unique photographer’s edition to accompany a current exhibition. These limited editions are produced exclusively for the museum. Generally priced at around €300, they are an ideal opportunity to acquire a genuine artwork at an affordable price.
