The art historian Joke de Wolf gained her PhD in 2022 with the dissertation Bewogen straten, over de foto’s van het oude Parijs door Charles Marville, a case study of the role played by photography in the 19th century. The photo historian Anne de Mondenard, head curator of the photographs and digital images department of the Musée Carnavalet – Histoire de Paris and curator of the Revoir Paris exhibition, has also published on 19th-century French photography and has written about Charles Marville. In a public discussion on Sunday afternoon 16 February, de Wolf and de Mondenard will examine various aspects of early street photography in Paris, from the 19th-century Marville to the early 20th-century Séeberger brothers, including Atget
